Blended Classroom Lessons vs Webinar Classes

AGrader's March T1 Booster Programme will be conducted in two methods - Blended Classroom Lessons and Webinar.

Online Teaching by Top Teacher

Online Teaching by Top Teacher

Attends Class at AGrader Centre

Attends Class from Home

With Supervision and Monitoring by AGrader's Staff

Parents or Self Supervision at Home

BLENDED CLASSROOM LESSONS. TWO-TEACHER SYSTEM

Blended Classroom Lessons combines online teaching by a teacher, and supervision and monitoring by a local assistant teacher.

This method is modeled from the Two-Teacher System in China, that rose and gained a lot of attraction since 2016, in a format of combining the online and offline learning experiences.

How Does It Work?

There will be one main teacher who will be delivering the class via live-streaming. This teacher could live stream the session to many classrooms (in other AGrader centres) at the same time.

This could extensively reduce the costs of teaching staff and solve the problem of lack of inconsistent teaching quality.

There will be one teaching assistant present in the class. He/She will be attending to the students to make sure that everyone is focused and engaged, facilitating the asking of questions, collecting feedback and on the whole - making sure that the students are focusing and engaged.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between this Booster Programme and the regular weekly lessons?

The March Term 1 booster programme's content is primarily covering *exam-oriented* techniques. The content in this booster programme is different from our weekly lessons and is also different from the EverLoop System's learning videos and practice content. It is meant more for students (regardless of whether they already have tuition or not) to practise on actual exam questions and for our teachers to introduce the "best" methods of solving exam questions to them.

What is the “blended classroom” learning about?

Students attend lessons in the classroom with a teacher assistant + a teacher streaming the lesson "live". There are primarily 2 main problems with attending online lessons via a webinar;

  • Not having a conducive environment at home
  • Lack of supervision and monitoring at home
With the introduction of blended classroom lessons, we will be able to solve both problems by providing our classrooms (as the environment), and supervision with teaching assistants. Students will still be able to ask questions via the chat, facilitated by our teaching assistants. If the student has a conducive environment at home and supervision, then attending the lessons in class will not be necessary.

Where will the blended classroom learning location be held?

It will be held in the centre that you are currently registered in.

Will there be recordings available for this booster programme?

Yes, the lessons will be recorded in high quality and every lesson’s recording will be made available for unlimited rewatching.

Why is it a teaching assistant and not an actual teacher in the blended classroom?

If it were an actual teacher - the fees would likely be 2-3 times more due to tight unit economics and high teachers' fees. We have 2 objectives when conducting the March Term 1 Booster Programme: - To deliver TOP quality teaching - At affordable rates yet not compromising supervision and environmental considerations We will be able to achieve both objectives using this method as we stream the lessons centrally, delivered by a top teacher from AGrader's HQ, and accompanied by teaching assistants who facilitate the blended classroom lessons in the classrooms.

What is the difference between this March Term 1 Booster Programme & upcoming other bootcamps? (e.g. PSLE Bootcamp)

The March Term 1 Booster Programme focuses on exam-oriented techniques and topics/questions that are taught in Term 1 of school. The content is made up of past-year exam papers and questions and the teaching delivery if exam-tecnique focused. The PSLE Bootcamp (for example) is content-heavy, focusing on the most heavily weighted concepts and components commonly found in past PSLE exams (focusing on heuristics/open ended questions), rather than exam techniques/past year exam papers.

About the Instructor:

Lianne Tan

Being the English Curriculum Lead at AGrader, Teacher Lianne is responsible for the immensely high-quality and popular English worksheets that thousands of students use weekly across all branches in the country.

As a graduate from the Singapore Management University (SMU), she is meticulous, creative and highly charismatic. On top of her strong technical abilities in English, she is both well-liked and admired by her students.

Loo Kit Qin

Graduated from National of University of Singapore (NUS) with a Bachelor of Arts in English Language, Teacher Kit Qin went on to pursue Post Graduate Diploma in Education and was a MOE ex-school teacher before venturing out to the private sector.

With over 6 years of teaching experience, it is his strong belief that every student can be an effective learner given the right teacher and environment. To him, a curriculum should be designed according to the needs of the students rather than the requirements imposed by the system, so he spends time pondering over different curriculums to see if they could be refined.  Students enjoy his engaging pedagogies that reduce emphasis on frontal teaching and help them develop a life-long interest in English, rather than study for the sake of passing the examinations.
